Taking control over your self improvement

Welcome back to Brighter Self Improvement!

I found an interesting article by Deon Du Plessis, it’s called Taking control of your intellect and Your Thoughts. Here it is:

We all have the desire to grow our personality. The wish to become better, to have more and to improve our life is a basic individual need. In order to be happy, fulfilled individual beings we must grow and expand our life consistently. The key is consistency. Our life will never be “sorted” for a true sense of happiness and fulfillment comes from a consistent improvement in the quality of our lives.

For us to experience this sense of fulfillment we don’t need to make major life evolutions on a every day base. Similarly, you don’t need self improvement books, self improvement courses, self improvement advice to make a difference in your existence. You need self improvement ideas that you can use and apply and admit as part of your existence. These ideas needn’t be desperate. It is often the simplest ideas that create the precious evolutions in our self.

By making little incremental evolutions towards our conclusive view of our lives on a every day base, we start to make unstoppable momentum in our life. People often rush in and create massive evolutions in their lives and try to evolution everything in their life overnight. This kind of evolution and personal improvement rarely lasts.

Whenever you acquire knowledge a new self improvement idea or skill, inflict yourself to it. Make a true decision where you purely inflict yourself to use and utilize it until it is conditioned as a habit of intellect. Start with little and simple self improvement ideas and make on it.

All evolution and self improvement start in our intellects, on the internal world, the part of being over which you have absolute and total personal power. We cannot take control over the events and circumstances around us but we can and have absolute strength over our interpretation of it. Nothing in existence has any meaning except for the meaning you attach to it. You can’t change the wind, but you can direct your sails.

The challenge is that we tend to get caught up in the circumstances of reality and allow the environment to take domination of us instead of us controlling it. Recall what Benjamin Disraeli said: “man is not the creature of circumstances; circumstances are the creatures of men.” It is not what happens but what we do with what happens that shapes our lives.

The most important individuality improvement idea is to acquire knowledge to take control of your intellect. This is actually a lot easier than you might think, if you think about it for our thoughts are the base of our intellects. We are who and what we are in existence because of our thoughts and therefore every improvement in our thoughts must by definition improve our lives. The principle of attraction states that we attract into our lives the experiences that harmonize with our weighty thoughts.

In order to acquire self betterment knowledge how to take control of your thoughts requires an understanding of what a thought actually is. Thinking is nothing but a process of asking and answering questions in our intellects. The easiest way to practice this self improvement idea is to begin asking ourselves better questions. Questions like “why cant I do this? or “why does this always happen to me?” will hardly create empowering thoughts for your intellect will give you answers to these questions based on your memory.

Teaching your intellect to ask questions like “how can I do this?” will create self worth answers that keeps your intellect concentrated on what you ask of it. Questions are the self talk control mechanism of your mental concentration. You can make yourself feel good or bad, angry or sad by just concentrating your intellect.

The way you feel at any point in time is not based on true but on your self image interpretation of true by what you choose to concentrate on. Recall that there is always something wrong in your existence and in the world, BUT at the same time there is always something that is good and right. Make the conscious self repair decision to direct your concentration on what’s right and good and joyful. Just ask yourself “what’s precious in my existence right now?” and immediately your concentration will be shifted and you are in control of your consciousness.
