Test your personal goals

You know what you want to achieve. You have a clear self image of having it, experiencing it, doing it, enjoying it. You absolutely believe it will happen and you know you deserve to have it. But before you act to achieve your personal goals - particularly a major target, life-changing one - you may want to ask your self these questions first:

How will this change my own life? Once you have achieved your personal goals, how do you think will you change as a being? Will certain areas of your existence be affected, such as lifestyle and relationships? How will they be affected? Visualize yourself, the people around you and your situation. Let it unfold like a movie in your senses. Do you love what you see? Do you love what you feel at that particular moment?

How badly do I want this to happen? Do you have a burning desire to achieve your personal goal? Or is it something that you think is just good to have, something you can do without? If your personal goals are huge and can have a considerable impact in your life, it is best to choose a goal you are passionate about. Having a goal you feel lukewarm about or do not have much enthusiasm for may delay you - or even hinder you - from reaching it. At this phase, you may also want to review your self motivation for setting those personal goals in the first place. Your self motivation may help you in answering this question.

Will I be compromising any of my values in achieving these personal goals? Are your goal aligned with your assessments, or does it contradict them? What were the assessments at work when you made your personal goals in the first place? What do you think will be the results when you reach your goal, if it is not even with your values? Are you ready to take the consequences? How would you feel then?

At the end of the day, your intuition, your inner voice, will be your personal guide. If it feels great, go for it. If not, think it over again and act.

Sometimes, only in the procedure of achieving your personal goals you can only answer all these questions. If at a certain point you realize that this is not the right goal for you, you can still stop, you can always do this. On the other hand, if you find out you are on the right track, you will feel all the passion moving closer towards your goal.
